Vikings used necklaces with animals or beasts biting onto a ring where pendants were hung. This variant in braided Sterling Silver is truly a majestic piece. It ends in the heads of Freki and Geri that bite onto a pendant ring with a Thor's Hammer depicting the mask of one-eyed Odin and the Ægishjálmur symbol.
The pendant, the chain, the split ring and the wolf heads are 100% handmade from solid Sterling Silver 925, which results in a piece of fantastic jewelry. The split ring is simple to open and close, which allows for different pendants to be hung from it, and for the chain to be removed and put on easily.
The set includes the articles #2627 (chain) and #2587 (pendant).
Ægishjálmur (old norse: helm of awe/helm of terror) is mentioned in the old sagas, such as in the Völsunga Saga, where the dragon Fafnir wears one between his eyes. Scenes from the Völsunga Saga are depicted on a rune stone in Uppland Sweden that is dated to around the year 1000.
