Viking sword from the 10th - 11th Centuries. It is based on the original find in a bog near Dybäck in Skåne, Sweden. Currently, it can be viewed at the Historiska Museum in Stockholm.

The sword is a type 'Z' according to Petersen's typology. The pommel was never found, so it is reconstructed based on the original finds of the upper guard and cross, that were originally made of gold-plated silver. The decorations are elaborate, coming in the shapes of interwoven snakes, birds and floral motifs in the Old English style - which speaks of connections between Scandinavia and England. The sword must have belonged to a wealthy individual, perhaps a chieftain.

The forged and tempered blade has rounded edges, which allows it to be used during full contact sparring and fighting. The tang is covered with a wooden handle and wrapped with leather and filigree which provides a strong and secure grip. The sword is balanced quite close to cross which makes it very fast.

This is an excellent sword for heavy combat. We have put these to the test for years in full contact competitions. The balance, weight and highly durable material, together with the fully blunted edge make it the perfect sword for full contact sparring and battles.
