This bead set comes as a complete necklace with a handmade replica of the Nidhöggr pendant based on a find from Eketorp, Sweden, and 30 handmade Viking glass beads. The beads are replicas of finds from the Birka excavations and are shaped through the traditional winding technique, where molten glass is wrapped around a metal rod.
The necklace can be worn in two authentic ways – as a decorative piece hanging between tortoise brooches together with a Viking Age apron dress, or simply as a standalone necklace highlighting the remarkable Nidhöggr pendant.
Vikings would go to any lengths to get hold of colored beads, which is evident in the huge amount found during excavations. They are the single most common items found in pre-Christian Viking graves.
